It seems that 99.9% of Christians are Theistic Evolutionists. A theistic evolutionist is one who believes that God started the process of creation but then used millions or billions of evolutionary years to enact it. The Bible does not support this view. This position cannot logically be held if one truly believes in the Bible. Such theology hangs in mid-air. Here are some of its problems.
One: Evolution does a lousy job of displaying the glory of God
Because the very purpose of creation (biblically) was to show God’s glory (Romans 1), how would God’s glory be enhanced through a parade of tons of death of dysfunctional mutated creatures over billions of years? Is His arm so short?
Two: Creation cannot occur without the personal presence and micro-management of Christ
Since we are told in scripture that the very agency of the creative process was Jesus/Yeshua himself, the first born of all creation, how could creation occur without him being on the scene? How could he show up, as God, out of a hit or miss random chaos? Was He, Himself, hurled forth out of a big-bang? If so, how could he be the firstborn of creation? Being born amid all the other amino acids? The evolutionist does not claim that he was there, but the Bible does. So for the Bible believer, that is a big problem. Four prepositions nail the case. Creation was performed THROUGH Christ, FOR Christ, BY Christ, and IN Christ. “Without Him, nothing was made that was made!” (John 1:3) The very agency of creation is Christ, not mutations.
Also, we have a number of facts that are embarrassing for anyone who believes in theistic evolution.
Three: Male and female must be created simultaneously
The very act of reproduction requires male and female versions of all species to evolve at the same time. The likelihood of this happening via mutations across, even one pair of sexually separate creatures, let alone the entire animal kingdom of zillions of creatures is zip, zilch, zero. Togetherness produces offspring. Evolutionary theory flatly ignores any need for any togetherness. Mutations do not work in pairs.
Four: Unfit forms cannot survive
Survival of the FITTEST cannot work if everything exists in an UNFIT evolutionary state. Everything in a material world in a half finished, maimed state, is dysfunctional. No machine can function while it is still in the process of being created. Nothing works until everything works; it is the reality of irreducible complexity. Unless the process is allowed to finish, all production of rubber and steel flops, no winged/half-elephants can get off the ground.
Five: Tears defy materialistic evolutionary views of reality
How can a merely physical world, containing matter only, account for the existence of human tears created by an abstract thought of sorrow in the metaphysical/spiritual world? Materialistic evolution allows for no God, no spiritual world, no sorrow. Yet we wipe tears from our eyes. Where do they come from in a big-bang theory?
Six: Dictated boundaries are not the result of unpredictable mutations
God laid down the gauntlet in chapters one and two of Genesis that everything is to reproduce “after its own kind.” Lest we be confused on the point, He mentioned it ten times. God is into specificity. Oceans have boundaries (Job 38:11). The world is not a vast swamp of sandy sea. Neither do birds and monkeys exist as sort-of birds and monkeys or as ever-yet-becoming birds and monkeys.
Seven: Explosions do not create reverse spins
Neptune , Saturn, and Jupiter have moons that rotate in both directions. From a one-time big bang? Dynamite explosions always expand in one direction. Guns do not shoot backwards when aimed forward.
Eight: Sparse fossil record
What do we make of the absent fossil record? As evolutionists, one should expect to see millions of dead things laid down by rock layers through all the eons of time; a world filled with only graves. Archaeologists sometimes dig for months in vain.
Nine: Death cannot occur before Adam sins
And finally, the decisive factor that ruins the theistic position is that there could not be death before sin. Sin entered the world through Adam (Romans 5:12) roughly 6,000 years ago, not through a dinosaur billions of years ago. There was no death before Adam. Decay, deterioration and death are the direct judgment of God at the scene of the fall of man.
In conclusion, theistic evolution does not stand up under the rigors of secular logic, let alone biblical logic. It is an implausible position to hold, rationally. Evolution, directly, and Theistic evolution, derivatively, are theories that have survived only as the result of years of public school indoctrination of each child--aggressive, belittling, dismissive, angry, godless secular brainwashing, and propaganda.
