Many people have mouse-in-the-house challenges. For those who live in the country, it seems to be par for the course. A friend shared tips compiled from others’ suggestions for getting mice out of a house.
- Fill every hole you can find--with steel wool if necessary.
- Use peppermint essential oils and/or peppermint packs; mice don't like the smell of peppermint.
- Bait your mouse traps with a nice generous dollop of peanut butter for three nights in a row but don't set them. Just let the mice find the traps and enjoy their feast. For the fourth night, bait them with a tiny smear of peanut butter and set them.
- Let someone’s cat (or terrier) into your house’s crawl space under the house for a while.
After these actions, this friend went for months without any sign of mice inside.
As with health challenges in our personal health, house-mouse-expulsion requires the use of a multi-pronged attack, sustained attack, keeping it up for a while after the symptoms disappear, and being quick to renew the attack when the symptoms re-appear.
