Biblical Elam (located in Iran) is in the news! Prophesied events (Jeremiah 49:34 and on) are unfolding before our eyes! Homeschooling families who are in the habit of daily Bible reading can now gain even more exciting details of the history and locations and activities of these events through focused internet searches. We even have the tools to view Biblical sites from satellites.

Here are some additional findings from the Internet about these current developments in Iran. For example, Susa, the ancient capital of Elam, was the city in which the story of Queen Esther played out—in these same days of Purim (photo credit; Times of Israel) we are in now. See it today from space and on the map. Susa (also known as Shush or Shushan today) was the capital of Elam, described in Jeremiah 49:34-39). It is part of southern Iran today; Elam is the Province of Khuzestan there.

More about Shushan here:

“The city formerly belonged to the Elamite, Persian and Parthian empires and was known to be a center for the worship of Inanna, the Sumerian goddess of love, fertility and warfare.” And this: “In the Bible, the city is known primarily from the story of Esther in which Haman the Agagite planned to annihilate the Jews of Persia. According to the story, Esther outwitted him by persuading her husband, King Ahasuerus of Persia, to sabotage Haman’s plan. The episode is commemorated every year in the Jewish Purim festival which is marked with costumed parties and other celebrations. The city is also mentioned in Nehemiah and Daniel, both of whom lived in the city during the 6th century BC in the period known as the Babylonian captivity when a number of Jews were held captive following the siege of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar. A tomb known as Shush-Daniel is believed to be that of Daniel himself. It is capped by an unusual white cone which some believe was formerly a stone ‘Star of David’.”

Per GPT’s research summary: “Elam, as mentioned in Jeremiah 49:34-39, corresponds to a region in modern-day southwestern Iran, specifically in the Khuzestan Province. Historically, Elam was known for its archers and military prowess, which eventually contributed to its absorption into the Persian Empire. The prophecy in Jeremiah speaks of Elam's future, declaring that its military strength would be broken and its people scattered globally, which can be interpreted as a foreshadowing of the modern Iranian diaspora. The scripture also mentions a future restoration of Elam's fortunes.” Also this: “The biblical prophecy concerning Elam has drawn interpretation and significance in the context of current geopolitical events involving Iran. With the bombing of Iranian assets, particularly in areas like Khuzestan, many see parallels with prophetic narratives, prompting discussions about the future of Iran and its people. The events unfolding on February 28, 2026, might resonate with the themes of judgment and potential restoration outlined in the scriptures, as the region braces for further repercussions.”

Furthermore, Shushan had an earthquake 10 days before the attacks that began yesterday (i.e., on February 19, 2026, which was the same day President Trump gave the Iranian dictators 10 days to say six words — “We will never have nuclear weapons”).  Per Israel365news.com “The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers. The German Research Centre for Geosciences registered it at magnitude 5.5, with a 5.3 centered squarely in Khuzestan province — the province of Shushan. It struck on the first day of Ramadan, a detail that carries its own irony: the Muslim world begins its holy month while the Jewish world, ten days from now, will read the story of how the Persian empire’s attempt to destroy the Jews ended in the destruction of Haman and his ten sons. Ten sons. Ten days. The Sages do not let these numbers pass without comment. The prophets explicitly mention earthquakes and volcanoes as playing a role in the end of days, preparing the world by burning away impurities, as a crucible is used in metallurgy to purify metal.  But Hashem God is the true God, He is the living God, and the everlasting King; at His wrath the earth trembleth, and the nations are not able to abide His indignation. Jeremiah 10:10  The Prophet Ezekiel described earthquakes as preceding the pre-messiah multinational War of Gog and Magog. Mountains shall be overthrown, cliffs shall topple, and every wall shall crumble to the ground. Ezekiel 38:20 ... Iran should take note. When the ground under Shushan shakes ten days before Purim, it is worth asking who, in this story, is playing Haman — and how that story ends.”

Iran's leadership did not heed the warnings; its Ayatollah and his inner circle were destroyed yesterday, as prophesied in Jeremiah 49:38.
