Friendship tips

Most of us can use help in making friends-- and we can be training our children in that too.

Two quotes on friendships...whenever and however they form.:

First quote:
His thoughts were slow
His words were few,
and never formed to glisten.
But he was a joy to all his friends --
You should have "heard" him listen!

Second Quote:
Oh the comfort, the inexpressible comfort, of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away.

Friendship is one of the ditties in our 48 character traits coloring book and songs.  Here are the words (you'll have to order the audio to know how it goes; available as a set of 48 downloadable mp3 files or as a CD we mail you).

True friendship is a careful mix.
To help you make 'em,
here are some tips.
Don't talk about yourself too much;
ask your friends about their lives and such.

If you smother them with expectations,
they'll run away on long vacations.
Reach out to them, but give them space
to reach out to you, too.
You'll have friends,
just you watch and see,
who'll last a lifetime through.
